What tree work typically costs here

These are typical ranges only, never quotes. Your price comes from an on-site estimate and depends on tree size, location, access, and cleanup.

How it works

  1. Fill out the request form — tell us the service, the city, and what is going on with the tree.
  2. We pass your request to a local tree company serving your area.
  3. They contact you about a free, no-obligation on-site estimate and a written price.

Before any work starts, ask the company for proof of liability insurance and workers' compensation — tree work is dangerous work, and a crew without coverage leaves the homeowner exposed. A reputable company will show you a certificate before work begins.

Common questions

Do I need a permit to remove a tree?

It depends on the city and on whether the tree is on public or private land. In Birmingham, trees on public property and shared trees near the street are the city's business and need city approval; trees in your own yard are generally your call, with exceptions for diseased trees and new development. Other cities have their own rules. Check with your city if you are unsure — and check your HOA rules too.

What if a tree is touching a power line?

Do not cut near it yourself. The utility has to be involved before anyone cuts around a main power line. Tell us about any lines when you fill out the form.

When is the best time to trim?

Most trees benefit from trimming every 2–3 years, and late winter to early spring is ideal for many trees, though some benefit from summer pruning. A local arborist can tell you what fits your tree.
